David, That make a lot of sense. I actually took off the thermostat housing when I replaced the thermostat, probably making more work for myself. I'm sure I also lost more coolant then necessary as well. But, on the plus side, I didn't have to wrestle with getting the bolts off and holding the thermostat in just right. b
