Hi, list. My '87 Westalia has two temp senders in the thermostat housing: one is the blue Thermo Time Switch for the FI, the other is black and is for the temp gauge. Each has a physically different type of plug. However, my VW parts place sold me a temp gauge sender listed for '86-91 Vanagons that is identical to the Thermo Time Switch as far as the plug design goes, but is different in color. The TT Switch is blue, the Temp Sender is black/green. The temp sender they sold me is PN 251 919 501D The Thermo Time Switch in my van is PN 025 906 041A Bus Depot shows a different PN for the gauge temp sender, 251 919 501plain (no letter). They show the "501D" sender for 88-91 only. I think my parts place is wrong on this part. Can anyone confirm that 86-87 Vanagons in fact use a temp gauge sender with a different plug than the FI sender? Thanks in advance! Dan Schmitz PS: This latest exercise is one of the last steps in ruling out the possibilities short of having a blown head gasket, so I'm really hoping I have a bad sender! |
