Dear Mike, Yes, the temperature control knob turns like a rheostat. Behind it is a thermostat that has a sensing line running back to the evaporator (in the ductwork behind your head). If you find a way to keep the fittings tight on the compressor, let me know. Mine work have always found a way to work loose!
