Hi Scott,

Welcome to the list and the wonderful world of Westies. Have you taken the inside panel off the sliding door yet?? You'll have to do this to put on your new door handle anyway. Remove the inner door handle (single screw) and then pry out those stupid plastic plugs (that hold the panel on) and have a look inside your door. You may be able to see what the problem is. Maybe your lock mechanism is jammed/broken??
