I'm sure you're right -- but the factory a/c is dead in this one, and as we all know the rear-positioned vents barely cooled the front anyway under the best of conditions...and this has the advantage of being right behind the driver's head. Since I almost never have passengers, that's right where I want it! :)

But most importantly, assuming all this "run while mobile" stuff completely fails (and it probably will never pass long-term readiness testing) the point would be that you can't run the factory a/c while parked without the engine running. The worst-case scenario here is that I get an a/c unit that will work fine where I tend to camp -- which is in the Appalachians, not Bryce Canyon -- as long as I run a cord from my host's cabin.
