Subject: power window motor, etc.

actually,i now have found the following:

1. the window motor is just fine, thank god. it squealed until i hit it with some lube, then it was quiet.

2. the regulator had been opened and resealed. poorly. there was water in the regulator. the grease protected the screw mechanism pretty well, but the seal on the motor side of the screw was rock hard and thus completely ineffective in keeping water from the motorside bushing.

3. said metal motorside bushing is now frozen to the screw rod that goes into the rubber/nylon bushing that couples the motor to the screw.

4. there are four notches cut into the metal bushing parallel to the screw; one of these sets over a small stub in the bushing housing that keeps the bushing from rotating, while the shaft of the screw rotates attached to the motor making the window go up and down.

5. the rule is: no lubricated friction to allow the screw the turn, no window up and down. once it comes free (liquid wrench soaking now) and i get another decent rubber seal for it, i should be able to put it all together and have it work.

6. cancel that request for one used window motor. thanks.
