Subject: oil filters again
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

list, I have to say that I have heard more about the merits of the mann filters on the list than one would think possible. I was not a believer but there was no difference in price when you order them from bd so why not take the advise of the list, only an idiot would not. I change oil on the audi and the vanagon today. Always used fram on the audi and only an problem once with a bad check valve. I have to say the mann looked smaller than the fram and lighter when you first install them but after six months of use, the mann are clearly heavier than the fram after being used. What this all means I don't have a clue? One last thing, when changing the oil I have heard as many ways of getting the oil in as I have heard about filters. The worst part after pulling the oil extension is getting that first bit of oil into the tube without spilling it from a full bottle. If you start by pouring oil into the filter(mann fills faster) and installing the filter, you are left with half a bottle. Perfect for the first attempt to introduce oil into the plastic fill tube. Then, take that bottle and cut a triangle out with an exacto knife in the side near the bottom and you have a funnel to pour the rest. I am sure this is not the last of the oil saga. thanks for your input on all subjects great and small. gary of belmont
