On the subject of O2 sensors, mine is disconnected on my 85 Westy 1.9 L; nevertheless, I still get ok mileage... between 17 and 20. What problems might this create for me?

PS... Steve... I still need to get with you on my locks. Got a sliding door and passenger side that don't work.

I was working on my '84 this weekend, and checked fuel pressure. It was correct, both with the regulator connected and disconnected. In comparing with another '84, however, I found that my fuel pressure leaked down almost instantaneously after shutoff. The other van held fuel pressure at the test "T". I checked for leaky injectors and found all ok in that department. Also looked for fuel line leaks and found none. Is there a check valve in the fuel pump that is not working correctly, or is there a check valve somewhere else in the system that I haven't found? If anyone's curious, the reason for the work was tha gas mileage had decreased to 10.1, immediately after installation of new transmission. I was trying to find if the shop had done something incorrect. Problem was O2 sensor failure, though this sensor was replaced last year and only had about 6K miles on it. Thanks in ! advance, everyone. Steve Sandlin http://www.steveslockshop.com '84 Wolfsburg Westy '79 Bus '00 New Beetle
