Subject: Last chance for Vanagon Schmoo Award entries!
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

Hi all,

Last chance to get your entries in for the coveted Vanagon Schmoo Award. Entries are accepted through Tuesday August 7, the cut off date. Just to refresh everyones memory, the van that has been towed the most times in the last year (August 1, 2000 thru August 1, 2001) will win the award. The trophy to the winner is a genuine blue and yellow California plate that reads "1Schmooo" that came off my 1984 Westfalia. The winner can put it in their trophy case, on the mantle piece, or even display it proudly on their winning Vanagon. They also must agree to pass it on to next years most towed Vanagon.

There have been only two entries so far. Everyone on the list must be too talented in mechanics to enter. You always hear of the bad mechanical reputation of the Vanagon but the lack of entries should prove something. None of the four Volkswagens I have owned (1965 Type 3 Karmann Ghia and 1969, 1980, and 1984 Westfalias) have ever been on a tow truck under my ownership. Now saying that, I am sure I will be challenging for the Schmoo award next year.

Good Luck and get those entries in!

John Andrew 1984 "Westiico"
