Subject: Re: Tents

Gary,

We recently purchased the Cabelas Truck Tent which is a good fit on the back hatch provided you restrain the hatch from going all the way up and lifting the tent off the ground. This was easily accomplished with a couple bungie cords. Though I've not tried it yet, I've reason to believe it will fit well onto the side door opening. Others on this list have confirmed this for me. This tent is $200 plus shipping and is of very good quality.

We purchased a old Westfalia side tent last year that we've been restoring to put back into service. We needed a tent for our vacation this summer and so went ahead and purchased the Cabelas tent since the Westfalia wasn't ready yet. We were very pleased with it. Although our intention has always been to have our tent mounted at the side, the Cabelas tent offers other possiblities including mounting to the rear of our Fox wagon which I'm anxious to try. I'm not sure what we'll do with it once we start using the Westfalia, but I'm pretty sure we'll keep it.
