John - this is one of my first relies to the list so be sure to check back for others.

In my 88 westy there is a small shallow plastic pan underneath the condenser. To that, on the right side, FIF, there is a hose fitted to direct the water out of the pan to the outside of the vehicle. The hose is fitted onto a kind of "nib" that forms the outlet for the pan.

If I remember the tube with the condensate then runs down the inside of the air vent on the right side of the car... the vent covered by that blck plastic louvered cover.

I discovered that the tube had disconnected from that pan and the water was dripping to the inside of my westy - right on to the sleeping matress in the rear.

I bought new tubing... removered the rear AC covers and squeezed and turned and twisted and squinched and cursed and swore, farted and blew a gasket trying to get that new tubing on. But I did it and it works like a champ.

Just this weekend I was first alarmed and then proud to see a clear liquid dripping from the right rear of my westy. I dropped my coffee and doughnuts, dived for the deck, patted the liquid and sniffed it only to realize it was just water from the AC unit!!!! Thank god there were no big dogs about.

So - look for water some where inside your vanagon... I can't see it going anywhere else but others may have more info regarding the potential for rust.

There ya go.

Barry
