I did, I use a flexible radiator hose (I took out the interior spring, but I could have left it in) and I used a screw clamp to keep it on the main pipe. I have not found a really good plug for the top of the flex-hose, but I use a generic rubber plug, it has worked fine except for ONCE (in 4 years) the cap jumped off and got caught down by the alt belt and caused the alt/water pump belt to jump off and I had a MAJOR over-heat.
