Subject: September in San Francisco get together
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Hello one and all,
Some of our fellow Vanagon Listmembers and fans in the Bay Area and beyond
are attempting to organize a fall get-together. It is tentatively scheduled
for Saturday, September 15 beginning at 9am. It's the perfect time. Just
before the kids are buried in homework and the wet Bay Area fog takes over
out lives and forces us to drive to ski resorts in the Tahoe Basin.
Please email me if you are interested in coming and/or helping host the
event. We have selected Golden Gate park as the location. I have yet to scout
the exact place where we can have a barbecue and have enough parking for the
attendees. To date at least eight (8) people have confirmed that they will be
available to attend.
For those not familiar with Golden Gate Park and it's amenities, I installed
a webpage for this event which I will be updating as the date approaches.
There is a link on the site to a GG Park visual guide of sorts.

Bring your Archery equipment, rollerblades, etc., or just come to meet new
and old friends. Then take a look at the museums in the park or visit the
Japanese Tea Garden if that strikes your fancy. Group activity suggestions
are encouraged.
Detlev Hanschke has graciously volunteered to assist and probably drive his
Audi-5 cyl Syncro. I believe John Wessels will be bringing his (questionably)
street legal SyncroMog. You'll know what I mean when you see it, if you
haven't yet. Maybe Ken Herman will bring his Syncro Westy w/ the cool
"Volkswagen" logo on the sliding door track cover other unique touches. Of
course, Mr. vanagon.com (aka Coyote) will be dropping by. Dan Schmitz is
working on getting his Syncro working to get here. Jero from Daly City
hopefully will drive one of his Vanagons instead of that darned Jeep that's
been keeping him mobile after blowing up his third Vanagon headgasket in a
year. Donna S. will hopefully make it since she fits so well into the SF
scene so well. Bill Kasper, are you, "sweetheart", and the little mountain
man going to be back in time? Tim Fong who instigated me to get his thing
going better be able to make it. Please leave the Ferrari at home. This is
Scuderia Vanagona event.
Well, I hope more of you can attend and help make this an annual event. This
may become one of the few non-camping Vanagon events.
