That is correct Scott.

The rapid water movement causes cavitation, causing the errosion of the water tank. Hence the anodnes.

Much like the cavitaion that occures on the cylinder liners of a diesel engine, durring to the rapid coolant cuirculation, causing the liners to burn throught to the combustion area.

Same principal.
