Subject: Rear main seal
Content-Type: text/html

<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV>So I noticed a great oil leak emanating from the engine/tranny point of attachment on my 84 VAn GL. I had taken the tranny out once and thought that maybe the rear main seal was damaged so again it came out. I replaced the&nbsp; crankshaft needle bearing, the flywheel felt washser and oil ring seal, but had trouble with the RMS setting in the bore properly. Now that the tranny is in place partially, the van blows blue smoke, never did this before, ran great!</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>How would one go about installing the RMS properly (as properly as an experienced backyard mechanic&nbsp;can do) without banging the heck out it to get it to seat in the bore? AND, what might be the problem causing the blue smoke? A bad RMS-would'nt it be ironic, don't you think?</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>Cheers,</DIV> <DIV>Brian C. &nbsp;Adams</DIV></div><br clear=all><hr>Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at <a href='http://go.msn.com/bql/hmtag_itl_EN.asp'>http://explorer.msn.com</a><br></html>
