   I have had two water pumps repaired while on the road, one by an
independent shop and one by VW, in 1995 and 1996 respectively.


   The independent garage charged $53 for the pump and $115 for labor,
and the total price for the job was $172.  VW charged a little more of
course. <G>  It cost $81 for the water pump and $122 for labor, $209
total.


   Neither of these water pumps is OEM.
