I've always just sprayed GUNK engine cleaner in there and taken one of those round parts clearer brushes and got excellent results. Gunk is mostly kerosine but with a little brushing action it loosens everything up real good and then I just hose it down. There are some parts in there that can corrode, FI terminals, Double Relay connectors etc. so I normally spray them down withg WD40 (again mostly kerosine) but after seven years of annual cleaning I haven't lost an electrical part yet. If you pull your FI wireloom off your Control Head be sure your battery is disconnected. I've heard that it can short your Control head out with the battery connected. So safety is just best.
