I've just installed a TIICO engine into my '91 Vanagon which has an automatic transmission. I simply bent the filler tube toward the bellhousing to clear the distributor and it works great. I'm glad I didn't hassle with changing the transmission pan. In fact, I believe it fits better this way. I think having the tube come up from the opposite side would conflict with the coolant hoses on that side. Just be gentle when you bend the pipe so that it doesn't kink. It has a metal tab welded to the tube for attaching to the bellhousing, I simply curled the tab back under the tube, redrilled a 6mm hole for the mounting bolt and re-attached it to the bellhousing. It worked out great. Bill Knight Raleigh, NC -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of Sean B. I just looked through a friend's ETKA and it says that the needed auto tranny pan (p/n: 010 321 359 F) was in more than one vehicle. Note: in all instances it is the tranny pan from the 3 speed auto tranny. VW Dasher 1978-81 VW Quantum 1982-88 Audi 4000 1980-87 Audi 5000 1978-88 Audi 5000 turbo 1980-88 Audi 100 1989-91 This list has not been confirmed, but I don't see why ETKA would lie. I just thought that people looking for this part would like the widest number of sources possible. Now for the big thing... does anyone have an auto tranny pan from any of the above vehicles they'd be willing to part with? I need one... Sean B.
