I've noticed my hotmail works at very different paces depending on what computer and what browser I'm using. My home machine with a 56k modem and IE works great. One computer in my office with IE is slow as my diesel, and another is fast. Netscape seems to work well on one computer where IE is slow. I say buy five or ten computers and experiment until you find a solution that works.
