I need some help diagnosing. The transmission shifts fine and has no operable problems. I started hearing a whine, growl noise last week, just before a trip. The noise goes down considerably when turning one way but not the other. It's louder at idle, than driving down the road, it's not the power steering pump, but sounds the same. Pump cavitation. When I returned, pulled the xsmn pan, and filter screen. The screen has some very small flakes of metal, and has a rather dark colored coating. The van has been driven with the emergency brake 2x lately by my wife. My guess is the dark stuff is clutch material. The metal flakes have cased the hydraulic pump to wear to a point of cavitation. What are the recommended actions. I've already done a filter change, and flushed six quarts of oil though at 2 quarts per start-up, circulate, drain.
