Blake; Rough idle is a relative term when it comes to Vanagons. You might check your plug wires. I did this by unplugging them one at a time. If one has no or little effect on idle replace them all. The next thing I would do is change the plugs. Note the condition of each one's tip as you remove them. If one has a different color than the rest suspect that cylinder. Let me know.
