Mark (owner of the only correctly installed turbo on a vanagon 50 degree
engine that I have seen),


That angle is probably associated with the different pan design such as the
one I show in the factory turbodiesel cross-section drawings. One of the
things that I was very surprised at when I looked in my engine with the
borescope was how high the oil level was at the pulley side of the pan. Up to
and a little above the the front main bearing cap. This was the point where
the foaming begins also. I also do not have any oil capacity numbers for the
diesel syncro.
