Try disconnecting the O2 sensor.  It starts feeding the ECU data after a
minute or so.  Better yet, disconnect it and hook it up to a voltmeter and
see what it is putting out.

If I start my 84 westy cold.  It will idle fine for about 1-2 minutes,
start to sputter for an additional 1-2 minutes and then stall, but then
if restarted it may do the cycle again of may be fine until the next
cold start.  Any thoughts?
