A T3 is the Series 3 Transporter, which was known in North America as "Vanagon". I'm pleased to say that that name was not normally used in other markets, though a very few were (perhaps when the factory ran short of Caravelle badges, or perhaps on Mondays or Fridays).

T1 was the Splittie; T2 was the Bay (though the Bay was not really a new series, but was a modified Split body). T4 is the "Eurovan" (again, the North American name) and I guess T5 will be the new Microbus.

T refers to Transporter series, not ype designation. Of course T1-T5 are all Type 2.

Andrew
