<<snip>The joint that seemed to be in good condition (inner) came right off the axle, but the one that had lost all of the grease (outter) is stuck for all its worth. Ive tried plenty of WD-40, even soaked it overnight in kerosene, but no matter how hard I bang on it, it wont budge.

So I have a few questions:

Can anyone suggest how to get that sucker off?>>

Try this: -make sure that you have removed the CirClip (sp?) from he end of the shaft of the stuck CV -clean any dirt from the shaft spines exposed at the end of the shaft -slide the boot back out of the way -get a heavy (1-2 lb) hammer -hold the half shaft in one hand (or have a helper hold it) so that the stuck CV is hanging downward -put something soft (and disposable) under the shaft to catch the CV when it lets go -using short strokes, slide the hammer along the side of the shaft so that it hits the end of the CV joint -keep hammering while rotating the shaft so that you are hitting all the way around the CV joint -don't worry about damaging the CV, if it is that stuck you will be replacing it anyway, most likely Works for me :-) Larry
