It is original engine as far as I know, ~123K. (I have only had it about two years.) I have replaced all vacuum lines, including the big ones on the intake/runners. New FI seals (as part of the fuel line replacement job), new AFM, new FPR.... When I was measuring the vacuum, I pulled off the distributor advance line and measured it there. Ideally, you should check it with the distributor and FPR intact? I believe there is something to this Boston Bob zero lash business. I will report back in a few more days. I am driving the camper to work this week to monitor the lifter noise and performance. Jay

Jay, OK, 15" of vacuum at idle! Your Westy is now King/Queen of manifold vacuum until someone can top that. How many miles on your engine? Original valve guides? This is in line with the result of my experiment that I posted last Thurs/Friday: in order for the fuel pressure regulator to give 28 psi at the fuel line test tee you need 15" manifold vacuum (1.9L engine). I connected my gauge to the same place you did when measuring vacuum. Connecting the gauge to other locations didn't affect my measurements.
