I've seen propane tank gauges that cost about $2.98 at the Northwest Butane location in Dallas Texas. They are a simple devise, just really a piece of tape that contains the same chemicals that were used in mood rings. It tapes to your tank and the color changes at the point where you LP fuel ends and the air begins. In effect when your tank is full it is bright orange, at half full the bottom is bright orange and the top is white. Of course you've got to get down there to look at it but its just dirt simple.
