Dear Brian,

I just finished my TDI conversion into my 1987 Syncro Westfalia after over 18 months in the garage!!! (and over $20,000 in parts and labor)

Overall impressions: --incredible power (it is chipped) --better fuel mileage (25-28 mgp?) --fits nicely into the engine compartment --pain in the ass to do --hyper expensive --Syncro tranny gears need to be changed --still much tweaking yet to be done

You can check out my (now outdated) site at: http://www.haywood-sullivan.com/vanagon/TDI

Would I do it again? Althought I LOVE the car now and it drives like a dream, the honest answer is: Nope!!!!

MJS
