Some of the lifters felt very firm, others felt spongy. What does > this mean? Did you watch what was hapenning as you do the final 1/4 turn? If you watch the rocker (most likely) the firm valves the rocker was pushing toward the valve stem. (this is what is supposed to happen) on the spongy ones, the rocker probably was going towards the push rod, thus meaning the lifter was not fully pumped. I use a tiny little screwdriver to "feel exactly where the adjustment screw is hitting the valve stem, then go the 1/4 turn....if it turns firm, the lifter is pumped........if it is easy going, i back off to .006 and come back a few days later to get it right.
Ps...be sure to watch it run in the driveway a few minutes to see any valve cover leaks!!!!!! > |
