I converted my 86 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser station wagon over to the r134a by installing a new dryer, filter, compressor oil total cost less than $90.00 US. Just bought the filter and the other parts from Napa and blew one can of 134 through the system after installing the new dryer and filter and it has been working really good for over two years. Since the system had bee open for less than 20 minutes I didn't bother to evacuate it. I put six oz of oil in the new dryer before I installed it. And it was just like the parts man told me, most of the old oil will be in your dryer and what isn't in the dryer will spray out when you run that first can of r134 as a purging charge.
