On the other hand, a drip from the waterpump weep hole could just mean the pump needs to be replaced. If a leak is due to overpressure in the water jacket from leaky head gaskets or cracked head(s) there WILL be HC there - the first test we do if there's the slightest suspicion, along with a cooling system pressure test. Hello, I had a similar drip in my '91 but it grew from one to two, to three, etc. over the next four months. The coolant was coming from the weep hole of the water pump. I identified this wrong the first time, and replaced the oil filter/cooler before I found it. Make sure you know where the coolant is coming from first. If it is coming from the weep hole, this is the first sign of head problems. My engine temperature gauges remained normal as well when the coolant drip started until the water pump failed.
