About 3 weeks ago, I bought a 1980 westy vanagon with a rebuilt air cooled engine. I spent about $1600 getting it safty inspected and ready for a road trip.

I took it first to Georgina Bay on Lake Heron and then to agonquin park. My wife and I had a great time. It was her first westy camping trip.

The Van ran great, although I don't think it got great gas milage. I put over 700 miles on the trip and burned a quart of oil in the process. I checked the oil every day so I know the oil was burned on the last day of the trip. I ran it about 75 miles an hour on the trip home(Toronto) for about 225 Km's(about 3 hours). Is burning a quart of oil normal at that speed and that time? Seems to me that air cooled engines burn more oil than water cooled ones.

The other proplem I had was with the fridge. I never could get it to work. The Pilot never would lite and I never could get it to work on Battery. The circut breaker is broken so I didn't try the external power source. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Victor
