Actually, that probably wasn't neccessary. Not all vehicles have a big test port like the Vanagon exhaust has. Most shops have a tiny wand for use with vehicles that lack such a port. They just drill a very small hole, insert the wand, then thread a small screw into the hole to seal it when they're done. Not as elegant as the "official size and shape VW test port" but works just fine.
