              oil?

If you haven't installed a new drier / filter and evacuated the system; you need to do that. (most of the old oil will be in your drier and not in your compressor (lowest point in your system for one and the filter material holds oil).

If you've done those things you can safely add 3.5 to 5 ounces of r-134 oil.(if you haven't got a graduated beaker use a 1 oz. shot glass to measure it out). When you install your r134a refrigerant, the system should be under vacuum from the evacuation process so with the engine off (not running the compressor) let the system take the refrigerant. (Do not suck it in with the compressor!!!!).

With all of the long hoses the system can take as much as 67 ounces of r134a refrigerant.

Determine this by your high side head pressure and low side vacuum.

Initially you should stop at 48 oz and run the system with this until the system has normalized. If your head pressure is low on the high side you can add more.

Be advised that the best temperature to expect out of your center duct on low blower after five minutes of operation may not be better than 47 degrees Fahrenheit. You're just not going to get the 43 deghrees that you get with Freon.
