Not real bad on an old finish---it'll most certainly remove any wax you have on the paint too!!

Yea, I have found in my vast experience, that in fact lacquer thinner will temporarily rejuvinate dead, or chaulked out rubber.

Then rapdly apply some sort of protective K-Y coating on it to help it keep it's luster.

PS--- I wouldn't use lacquer thinner on your wiper blades----
