Having driven with my Garmin GPS-II Plus for a while, I can say that every VW I own is off - the speedometer reads higher than my actual speed.

When the GPS is 100KM/H 1984 Westfalia 107KM/H 185R14 STOCK 1984 Transporter 104KM/H 185R14 STOCK (EURO SPEC TOO!) 1988 Syncro 104KM/H 225R60-16 2" taller than stock 1987 Fox (sold) 106KM/H 175/70-13 STOCK 1985 Cabriolet 105km/h 185/60-14 STOCK

The only car that is the exception is my 1987 Audi Quattro which is LOW - an indicated 100KM/H is really about 102KM/H to 103KM/H

The needle on the T3s can be "fixed" as it will pop off - if you lift it over the rest peg you will see that the rear rest position is about 1cm lower than the peg, if you pop off the needed (gently pull) and then reinstalling a few km/h lower (about as much as you are off) you will get pretty close to the real reading for the vehicle. Been there done this with my Westfalia.

BTW the odometer on all the vehicles is within a few kilometers over 1000 km.

Hi there I looked on the Tire Rack website and could not find the section which will show me the rev/mile. My speedo shows 500 rev/km. I recently drove thru a measured km and discovered my odometer is off 20% (short). I assume the speedo is off by the same variable. This means my '88 Westy only has 160,000 km's and not 200,000 km as shown by the odometer. This is good news. Bye for now, Dick '88 Westy '90 Miata
