Volks, a local mechanic gave me a call regarding a job in which the owner of a 84 vanagon pulled the heads to replace them, and thus the cylinders came off with them. Went down to take a look, and from what I can tell there is very little room to get the cylinders over the pistons without tearing down the motor. The water jacket comes out so far on the case, that the piston is almost fully extended with maybe an inch out of the water jacket, thus leaving zero room for a ring compressor.............. Who has been able to work around this? I would love to be able to fix this for my friend in exchange for body work!!!!!
