Austria, 1981, 145 KPH, brand new orange Vanagon, euro-spec, insane driver, lots of luggage, 7 scared passengers plus one delighted 13-year-old. To this day I'm a believer in the Germanesque driving techniques. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of 80 Westy Pokey Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 2:25 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: fastest vanagon
The other day I hit either 130 or 140 KMPH (I can't remember which). That translates to either 80 or 86 MPH. Of course this was downhill with a substantial run up and probably a tailwind. Still this is not too bad for a 21 year old Air Cooled... but just wait until I do my dream 911 conversion.
