A friend of mine was looking at my engine and noticed a connecter mounted on the right side of the alternator, attached right behind it. There are 3 metal prongs in the middle surrounded by black rubber. I have been trying to figure out what this should connect to, but I can't find it in the Bentley. I am guessing it is one of the air sensors or regulators. My engine lacks the full throttle switch and idle switch and I get about 21mpg on the highway goin between 70-80mph with the AC on. So I am happy with my Vanagons performance and since it is running fine I don't want to add anything that was removed that will reduce mpg, although I do run into the occasional hill I could use a little extra power on. Could someone please tell me what is supposed to be connected there and how it will affect my engine performance.
