Reminds me of a very fine weekend in 1979 camped out at the end of the long straight at Le Mans, watching Paul Newman come in second, and seeing the bright cherry red exhaust systems on the Porshes. Impressed me. Drinking french beer, huddling down in my sleeping bag (yep, it rained that night), the noise, the smell of racecars.. This was long before Vanagon ownership was even a twinkle in my eye... come to think of it, they hadn't been sold yet.
