Subject: Power Steering questions!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi guys, my 87 Westy's power steering fluid disappears without a trace, neither at the pump, the hoses or the valve housing. According to Bentley, this looks like a leak of the steering rack seal and "the leaking fluid is found inside steering gear boot". Now - what is the steering gear boot??? I apologize for my still limited command of the English language.

How can I make sure that this is the problem before I order a rebuilt rack from Bus Depot or another dealer?

Will I have to have the weels realigned when I exchange the rack? Does it make a difference if I keep or exchange the tie rods with the rack?

Does the rebuilt rack come with the valve housing or without? If it comes without the valve housing or do I have to order additional parts like seals etc.?

Thanks for your answers! Have a great Labor Day weekend! Regards Chris 87 Westy
