<< 1)where can i get the rebuild kit.. i think i have teves setup>>

Teves brakes are more commonly know under the name ATE. They're website is at:

http://www.contiteves-am.com/english/indexmit.htm

If you want the website for the major OEM brake component manufacturers, you can find them at the bottom of my Rear Disc brake project page at:

http://hometown.aol.com/bentbtstr8/vanagoncafereardiscbrakeproject.html

Or click on this link: <A HREF="http://hometown.aol.com/bentbtstr8/vanagoncafereardiscbrakeproject.html" > VanagonCafe rearbrakes proj.</A>

<< 2)how hard is it to do, what "special" tools are needed...>>

What are you trying to do? Calipers are cheap enough that it's really not cost effective to rebuild. You will need to hone the cylinders if you are having problems w/a piston sticking in a caliper. If you've never done this type of work before, play it safe and replace the caliper with a new one. Your life and the other motorists around you is worth more than the $100 or so that it cost to get new calipers.

<< 3)anybody make vented discs and high performance brake pads for this setup >>

Several list vendors sell crossdrilled rotors which will help dissipate heat build-up. The stock early ATE & Girling calipers on US Vanagons do not have a wide enough of a keyway to allow the use of vented rotors. You may want to check with ATE if their Powerdisc rotors will fit Vanagons. Fast Forward and MSD both list vendors have brake improvement programs as does Vanagon Projekt. Check for their sites in my webpage at:

or click this link: <A HREF="http://hometown.aol.com/bentbtstr8/vanagoncafelinkspage.html">Vanagon Cafe links</A>

There's a number of Porsche and Mercedes rotors which can be made to fit a Vanagon but it is not cost effective. You;d be better off doing the SA big brakes in that situation.
