Subject: Towing an automatic bus

Volks, I am working out the details on purchasing a 82 vanagon with auto tranny. The current owner will tow it to me, but has been told he must tow it backwards on a dolly if going any distance (100 miles) he does not, nor do I know the procedure for locking the front wheels, etc....just point them straight and take out the key?
