That information and press release was not correct. They were not able to get the Sprinter, or at least not yet.

I met with Mercedes about 2 weeks ago in an attempt to get the US models to convert and ship from Germany. I didn't have any luck. I am told that 3 models will be available here next year from Freightliner. All are cargo vans, with 3 different wheel bases.

There will be 2000 Sprinters shipped here over the next 3 years all part of a contract with a major US shipper. Sprinters may also be offered for sale, but these will only be the layout that has been approved for the US.

While we are looking at the Sprinter to convert to a camper, we must consider how costly it will be to add all of the features that are not available on the current delivery van including carpet, air conditioning, and a high roof.

At the Camping Salon in Dusseldorf 2 weeks ago, I saw at least 15 different Sprinter camper conversions. I'll try to post some pics by next week.
