Subject: Tie rod ends w/o cotter pin???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi,

I seem only to find outer tie rod ends equipped with self-locking nuts instead of the cotter-pin version, with which my 87 Westy is equipped with and which Bentley mentiones. Is this not a safety-related issue? I wonder whether it is worth it to spend nearly 40 $ a piece more for the VW-dealership-delivered part just to get the cotter pin (if they still use it, what I do not know). Any suggestions or experiences? Thanks Regards Chris
