Subject: Wake Foresters invade SF w/ two full Lilleys and a half
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Today (well actually yesterday by now), I met the WBX 2.1 cheerleader himself, Mr. Robert Lilley. No halves but two Lilleys and a half -- Mrs. Lilley aka Caroline from North Carolina is with child. It was either that or she was carrying a watermelon in her shirt.

It's just simply amazing how tolerant she was with all that talk about Vanagons. Robert must have been a good boy today because I don't believe this was supposed to be a Vanagon vacation. Maybe it was because he wore those shorts to wander about in the unscheduled but not unexpected San Francisco Fog (Bigamist as my Italian parts monger calls it.) <ouch that was slim>

Anyway we drove around for a short while in the park in my 16" Syncro Double Cab. I suspect Robert was getting too comfortable in that white Oldsmobile rental. I needed to remind him how wonderfully therapeutic bouncing around in an old used German truck was. It was tempting to take it on one of the equestrian trails but I didn't think Mrs. Lilley would be so tolerant if the Park Rangers ended-up taking us all to their hospitality suite as a consequence. Good thing I had to run to meet my insurance agent appointment. I may have gotten tempted to test Mrs. Lilley's patience just a little bit more.

If was a pleasure to meet both. It's nice to be able to connect the email persona with the real person. Robert's enthusiasm for WBX is only surpassed by his bravery n wearing shorts to tour San Francisco in unpredictable fall

By-the-bye, saying good-bye for now from Herb Caen's Baghdad-by-the-Bay.

Today (Sunday) I meet Tom Neal & Candy from Sacramento. He's ferrying some A/C parts for me courtesy of "roadcamper" himself, Steve Coseo of Seattle.

BenT
