I had a diesel Rabbit I drove for years with severe cracks between all the valves with no problem. It's demise you ask? It got stolen. Also I had a Volvo 6 cylinder diesel, almost the same as the VW diesel, it had the same cracks but 5 of them, and ran great. The diesel Van I am driving now has the same cracks and so far it runs fine. The moral of the story? Dont worry!
