Hi folks, I hope you have had a great weekend. I spent a couple of hours under the Westy to remove the old power steering rack & pinion. Well, finally I am stuck, since I just cannot find a way to remove the u-joint from the pinion. The u-joint, which has probably never been removed in the last 14 years, connects the pinion end to the steering rod, both the pinion end and the steering rod end are equipped with fine teeth fitting into the teeth of the u-joint. I just cannot remove the u-joint from either the rod or the pinion end. Pulling, pushing and yelling did not help so far. Is there any way to get this thing off? What's the trick on this???? Is there a VW tool to do this or what? Thanks, regards Chris -- !
