There has been a Mercedes "James Cook" hightop camper in my area for at least 15 years now. It's usually parked on Richmond St. in El Cerrito, near the Del Norte Bart station. It has Westphalia on the top in big letters, just like the Vee-Dubs do. Nice-looking, big Merc van. Last time I asked, they don't want to sell. Westfalia makes a camper conversion for the Sprinter called the "James Cook". I was told that Mercedes will be making them available in the US in about 6 months for about $60,000. The interior looked much more practical than any comparable van conversion I've seen. Well thought out, in my opinion. Has anyone else seen it? Lee Kouns 88 Westy |
