I found a Webasto deisel fuel heater in a semi tractor's cab, which i "rather" easily converted to gasoline.(They are meant to be easily converted, just not that easily by me :-)).They are used to heat the cab of semis while the driver sleeps.Saving running time and fuel on there big rigs. Webasto also makes rv and boating heaters and sunroofs. http://webasto.com/

The heater has three different shut off switches. One to turn it off if becomes loose in it's cradle. One if it overheats, and one if the fuel doesn't light or continue to stay lit.If so, it shuts down the fuel intake. .Appears very safe to me. Also, no moving parts except the fuel pump. A pretty cool unit and it will keep a bus at any temperature you choose. BTW..They are sold in the U.S..
